Words on Parenting Wednesday is a weekly post series on the subject of parenting. I’ll talk about any adventures we have with our girls to motherhood experiences to fun and games for children.
When throwing a birthday party for your kids, do you use basic decorations or do you go with a theme? Is everything very simple or do you go all out?
Katie turned 2 years old back in October. I made an album to summarize Katie’s year 2 of life. We picked a Minnie Mouse theme for her birthday party. Katie loves watching Mickey Mouse Clubhouse, so we thought this theme would be a perfect fit for her.
We bought the decorations, plates, cups, and napkins at Party America. Katie loved the decorations. She especially loved the big prints of Minnie Mouse and Daisy. I had to take a picture of the big print of Minnie Mouse when it was dark, so I was able to see the whole thing.
I also made lemon raspberry cupcakes and placed Minnie Mouse candies on top. I also bought the cupcake liners and the candies at Party America. I posted the cupcake recipe back in October and I just added more pictures. You can check it out here.
Here is Katie having some fun with the decorations and her new big Minnie Mouse before the party started. Don’t you love Katie’s Minnie Mouse dress? We had to dress her up for her party. We bought the dress at Target and the shoes at JC Penney.
Here is Katie waiting patiently for her party to start. It was so hard to get a picture of her beside her Minnie Mouse. I couldn’t get Katie to look at the camera. So this picture is the best that I could get.
Here is picture of Katie getting ready to open a present and a picture of Katie’s cupcake with her candles on top.
What did you think of this Minnie Mouse birthday party theme? What type of theme(s) are you planning for future parties? We still have about four more months until Katie’s 3rd birthday. We are thinking of throwing a Rio or a Frozen themed birthday party. We haven’t quite decided yet.
I would vote for Frozen since everyone seems to love the movie. Rio would be a very colorful theme. The way you put it together really saves a lot of money especially with the cupcakes. Visiting from #humpdayhappenings
I may see what theme my daughter would like to have. If she doesn’t care, I’ll choose one of them myself.
super cute! Party decorations are great and I love that big Mini! Seems whenever you want a child to do something, they do the reverse lol. Rio I think would be more fun 🙂
Very true! Rio would be fun. I don’t think there are a lot of people have done Rio themed parties.
Oh so cute! I love her sweet little outfit : )
Now her sister Sophia can wear the dress.
Cute! Thank you for sharing this post at City of Creative Dream’s City of Links on Friday! I appreciate you taking the time to party with me. Hope to see you again this week 🙂
Thanks!
