Making Memories in the Kitchen

Do your kids ever help you cook dinner or bake a dessert?

My girls aren’t always in the kitchen with me, but I feel it’s very important to include them in the cooking and baking process.

Katie and Sophia will either take turns helping me in the kitchen or will do it together. Katie loves to help prepare her school lunches. Sophia especially loves to help me wash vegetables and to stir the sauce for macaroni and cheese. Elizabeth loves to grab her stool and stand next to me while I cook. She’ll even eat some of the vegetables I’m cutting.

When my girls do help me in the kitchen, they aren’t just learning about cooking, I’m making memories with them.

Some nights we’ll have a special pizza night and Katie, Sophia, and I will make homemade pizzas together.

We also love to bake together. We’ll bake desserts, such as cupcakes, cookies, or pies. They love to lick the batter at the end.

The other day, we made a snack together. Katie checked out a Disney princess recipe book from school. We made the bibbidi-bobbidi-boo wands. They were simple to make and Katie and Sophia had lots of fun making them. All three of my girls loved eating the wands when they were done. You can check out more about the bibbidi-bobbidi-boo wands here.

I cherish all of these memories I’m making with my girls in the kitchen. I’m definitely going to have lots of them.

What kind of memories are you having in your kitchen with your kids? What are you going to make with them?

This post is part of a post series called Life of Parenthood, which is on the subject of parenting. I’ll talk about any adventures we have with our girls to motherhood experiences to fun and games for children to featuring mommy bloggers.
