Heart Artwork

Do you like to draw or paint? I love it! But when was the last time I drew or painted? More than 3 years ago. If you count the handprint art I make with my girls, then I’ve done it many time throughout these past few years.

I’ve always loved to draw and paint. I drew throughout middle school and high school. I kept it up during college. I’ve made some drawings and paintings during my first few years of marriage, but after having three girls, I just haven’t done it in awhile. You can see some of my drawings/paintings here from the past 15 years.

I was on Pinterest the other day surfing through the pin feed, I saw some pins that inspired me to made an artwork. I wanted it to happen since I haven’t done any paintings in awhile.

I had all the supplies that I needed – small canvas, paint brushes, and paint. All three of my girls were asleep in their own beds, so I knew it was a perfect time to paint.

My plan was to create a button art by making hearts with buttons. I was going to paint a small canvas with red and white paint (make pink with the white). Then after it dried, I was going to add the buttons. I even make hearts ahead of time and took pictures of them, so I would know where to put the buttons to form the hearts.

As I was starting to paint, a heart formed without planning it. So I changed my original plan and made a heart painting instead. What I love about the artwork is that it doesn’t look like a regular heart. It’s kind of like a modern looking heart.

I thought my heart painting would look perfect with my Valentine decorations. I added it to my built-in bookshelf in my living room.

What do you think of my heart artwork? What should I draw or paint next?

This post is part of a post series called For the Home, which is on the subject of home. I’ll talk about any remodeling/decorating of my house to tips to help you get your house organized to decorating tips to featuring home bloggers.
