What are you doing for yourself today?
The other day I was so exhausted. I had lots to do that day. Writing, grocery shopping, pick kids up from school, more writing plus few other daily grind things. By the end of the day, my body could hardly hold up. I was so out of it. I would go to one area of my home and forget what I was going to do. My body told me to just relax. Go to sleep. But I didn’t listen. I wanted to get things done.
Why didn’t I listen? Why didn’t I take care of myself and relax?
So I decided to come up with 5 ways you can take care of yourself. These tips are definitely a gentle reminder to myself as well.
5 Ways to Take Care of Yourself
1. Take a day off. Sometimes you just need a break from the daily grind. If you’ve had a long week, enjoy the weekend and have fun. Take a step further and stay off your phone. You’ll be glad you did.
2. Go to bed early. It is important to go to bed on time and get plenty of sleep. How many times do you actually go to bed on time? I feel so much better when I actually get enough sleep. Plus your body will thank you.
3. Have a spa day. Go to a spa to get pampered or have a spa day at home. You can do things such as put on a face mask, take a relaxing bath, or paint your nails.
4. Relax on the couch and watch a movie. Or your favorite TV show. Instead of working in the evening, take a break, relax, and do nothing. Even grab your significant other to join you.
5. Go to a lake or beach. Sometimes it’s good to just enjoy nature and see all the beauty around you. Now that it is Spring, you’ll be able to do this more often very soon.
What ways do you love to take care of yourself? What are you going to do for yourself today?
This post is part of a post series called True Love, which is on the subject of love. I’ll talk about loving yourself and others to ways to making yourself a better person.
Love this list! I always find myself overdoing it everyday. I love taking hot baths and doing face masks. 💙
I have been trying to go to bed early for years, but still can’t do it. I have time for myself when everyone is asleep. I can’t wait for warmer weather to enjoy the beach again.
I’m with you on all of these and I am dying to get to the beach… unfortunately, I live in the mountains and still have snow, so that one has to wait haha!
These all sound amazing! I might just do all of these 😉
I think taking a full day off is so important! We struggle with it in this day and age with social media and everything else!

The way I take care of myself is a solo shower to myself. I also get up two hours before my son gets up so I can have some peace and quiet before the chaos starts!
I find that I am miserable in this category! Lately, more than ever I am over-stressed, over-worked and feeling inadequate because I am not denting my to do lists! I don’t always have time for a great deal of self care but sometimes the most I can muster is a good radio station in the car and some serious prayer time! And, the occasional television night in the living room rather than folding laundry…Que the giant laundry piles surrounding the dining room table!
Such a good reminder. I’m very much a go go go person. But when I get outside, slow down, and feel the Sunshine on my face, I feel so much better.
These are great tips. Thank you for reminding me to take a break and take care of myself. It’s so important.
Going to bed early is one of my favorite self-care practices!
It’s difficult for me to take care of myself, as I am happiest when I am busy and creating something, but I am exhausted constantly. I don’t sleep well at all during the night, yet I’m exhausted during the day. It’s pretty rough, but today I have actually decided to take it easy as I have heaps that I want to achieve over the next few days. So movies and reading in bed it is! Best way to spend a Friday night, honestly.
I am all about self-care this year and actually did #3 on your list this past Monday. It was much needed!
I’ve been in danger of burning out lately. What I’m trying to do is just slow my pace a bit. And I’m practicing kindness towards myself. I’m my worst critic.
Just reading all these makes me want to do them straight away! Always need to remember to make time for yourself!
Rest is so needed but often forgotten. Thank you for the reminders! And yes, an uncrowded beach is THE most lovely place to relax!
I hear you! Since my second baby was born I think I’ve felt burnt out every single day. Mama needs a break!
This is a great idea. I love this. I totally want to try it out too.
I always go to bed early! It’s the only way I can get my full sleep since I need to wake up so early to work! I also take Sundays off from working most of the time. Lol
To relax on the couch with a good ol chic flick is my form of relaxation. Add a bowl of buttered popcorn and I am there! This is an important reminder, thank you for the amazing tips.
